About Us
Science Simplified Ltd was founded in 2019 by Dr Jason Burry.
Jason has been in the science arena for more than 30 years. His career includes a Researcher in Academia and a Research and Development Director for billion-euro brands in the beauty and personal care industry. He is now an independent Research and Development consultant.
Jason’s science journey started with a degree in human physiology, followed by a Ph.D. in kidney research. He held a Post-Doctoral position in the University of Montreal before joining Unilever. He spent over 20 years in Unilever across multiple science and management roles.
Throughout his career in science, Jason realised it was essential to develop a key skill; the ability to translate and communicate science in simple layman’s terms to non-technical audiences. He has done this successfully for a wide variety of audiences. Jason has tutored medical and dental students and explained highly complex science in an uncomplicated way to board member stakeholders. He has also communicated the science and technology of products to a wide variety of external audiences. These include marketers, advertising agencies, trade owners, TV producers, media companies, beauty editors, journalists, social media influencers, medical associations and dermatologists. Jason has played a pivotal role in a number of high profile press and media launch events and has appeared in TV documentaries in Australia and Germany.
Jason’s experience in Unilever included roles as a Research Director, a Global Research and Development Director for a billion euro brand, as well as a Board Member for a premium cosmetic company. During this time, Jason developed a comprehensive understanding of the product development process, from basic science to formulation design to consumer claims. He is experienced in risk management, cosmetic regulations and compliance, technical demo creation, technical pipeline development and project and portfolio management.
In addition to his role as an independent consultant, Jason coaches university students in literature searches and science translation. Based on his own diverse experience, he also provides advice on careers in science at schools and for university students.
